The historic town of Athens offers charming downtown shopping and local restaurants, while Cleveland provides easy access to larger amenities and the beautiful Ocoee River for whitewater adventures. Benton is another great stop with small-town charm and additional outdoor recreation nearby.
Within an hour’s drive, you’ll find the cities of Knoxville and Chattanooga, as well as the mountain town of Blue Ridge, Georgia.
Nearby waterfalls Several scenic waterfalls are located within 30 minutes, primarily within the Cherokee National Forest. Gee Creek Falls offers a gentle 2-mile roundtrip hike to a 25-foot cascade. Turtletown Falls features a 40-foot drop at the end of a scenic, moderate 3+ mile trail. For something more accessible, Lowry Falls is a beautiful 10-foot cascade just 0.4 miles in. Goforth Creek Trail winds alongside a cascading creek for a peaceful streamside walk.
